Geotechnical Engineering
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of South
Carolina invites applications for one or more tenured or tenure-track faculty positions
with demonstrated expertise in geotechnical engineering. The position
is expected to be filled at the Full Professor level; exceptional candidates at
the Assistant and Associate level will also be considered. Candidates should have
a B.S. degree in civil or environmental engineering, a doctoral degree in civil
engineering or a closely related field, and the potential to become a licensed professional
engineer. Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate
courses, direct graduate student research, publish in archival journals, establish
a strong, externally funded research program, and be professionally active. The
department presently has 19 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, and 7 faculty
members have received NSF CAREER awards in recent years. The University of South
Carolina is one of 62 public universities designated as “very high research activity”
by The Carnegie Foundation. Review of applications will begin immediately and will
