Research Positions in Water Resources and Hydraulic Engineering
Applications from qualified US citizens and permanent residents are invited for
a Research Assistant Professor, a Post-Doctoral Fellow, and five Graduate Research
Assistants at the doctoral level. The salary for the first two positions depends
upon the qualifications and experience and the stipend for the research assistants
is up to $20,000/year plus tuition. This research is funded by a $2.5 million, 5-year
NSF grant, “PIRE: Modeling of Flood Hazards and Geomorphic Impacts of Levee Breach
and Dam Failure.” Unique opportunities exist for collaboration and participation
in the related ongoing research at Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium and
Instituto Superior Tecnico, Lisbon, Portugal for short periods or for up to a year.
Successful candidates are expected to conduct laboratory experiments, develop and/or
apply 3-D numerical models of unsteady flow and sediment transport. Research assistant
positions require an MS degree in civil engineering, geophysics, coastal engineering,
oceanography or in a related field although exceptional candidates with BS degree
will also receive consideration. Females and minority students are especially encouraged
to apply.
